Where the Light Comes From

Nomeda Saukiene is a painter, mother, grandmother and a wife of Šarūnas Sauka. Her husband is one of the most famous painters in Lithuania, so she struggles to be seen as independent artist. Her work mainly concentrates on still lives of nature. Together with Šarūnas they live in a small countryside, at the house of her parents. The beauty they see and express is very different, but it still surrounds the family. Moreover, she has two supportive kids that are already grownups. Somehow, the beauty of life prevails.

Scenarist, director and journalist Agnė Marcinkevičiūtė was born in Vilnius. She studied lithuanian language and directing at Klaipėda University. Agnė holds MA from Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA). In 2006, she was awarded by Lithuanian Cinematographers’ Union for the best documentary film.
