Stop the Pounding Heart

Intimate portrait of a Christian family in rural Texas. She has been brought up in a deeply religious family of 14 goat herders. He comes from a less dogmatic family and wants to be a rodeo rider. Their cautiously blossoming puppy love is one of pure naivety, but launches Sara into a stormy identity crisis. The ideals she has grown up with are no longer as self-evident as her Bible-quoting parents taught her. Filmed in a very realistic style with minimal fictive elements.

Mind your heart for it is the precioust thing you have – warns the mother. But what to mind it from? In a traditional rural community a girl tries hard to understand what does it mean to live an honest adult life but her heart tickles while talking with a skinny boy, a future cowboy of Texas. Try out new paths or obey to the rules of strict upbringing? It is a film about a whirl of mind and the spirit of freedom blazing in heart. A. Z.
