Dresses, Mothers and Doughters

The protagonists of the film are two 13 year-old girls – Paula and Nadin. Paula lives in Auce, Latvia, far from the rush of the capital. She zealously follows the latest fashion trends in magazines. Nadin lives in Tonsberg, Norway. She also keeps up with the latest fashion trends and feels free to experiment with her looks. What is the importance of looks in the lives of the girls? How does it affect their relationship with their peers? Is the advice of their mothers important in forming their own opinions? Is being stylish just boom and added stress? And finally, how will the mothers and daughters deal with the inevitable: growing up?
